In this session of Edtech 2009, Ernie Connor the director of technology and career education and Stephanie Carter, a technology resource teacher explain the advantages of beginning a migration from traditionally licensed, essential software over to open source freeware in Mecklenburg County Public Schools. This movement proves itself as both an adoption of modern educational tools, as well as a budget tool in reclaiming funds taken by the purchase of current software.

EdTech has become one of central Virginia’s most valued educational resources for teachers, principals, library media specialists and administrators. It is an annual two-day conference hosted by WCVE Education staff of the Community Idea Stations and highlights the wealth of technology available to educators from K-12.
