Dr. Punya Mishra is associate professor of Educational Technology at Michigan State University. He has an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering (from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, India), Masters degree in Visual Communication (from Industrial Design Center, IIT Mumbai), Masters degree in Mass Communications (from Miami University, Oxford Ohio), and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). His research has focused on the theoretical, cognitive and social aspects related to the design and use of computer-based learning environments. He has worked extensively in the area of technology integration in teacher education and teacher professional development both in face-to-face and online settings. The Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework for teacher knowledge for technology integration (co-developed with Dr. Matthew J. Koehler), has been described as being “the most significant advancement in the area of technology integration in the past 25 years.” He has received over $4 million in grants from national and international agencies. He has published in peerreviewed research journals and has edited two books. Dr. Mishra is a gifted, creative and engaging public speaker, having made multiple keynote and invited presentations for associations and conferences nationally and internationally. Dr. Mishra teaches courses at both the masters and doctoral levels at the College of Education in the area of educational technology, design, and media. He has also taught courses and conducted workshops on creativity, innovation and design for the MBA program at the Indian School of Business (Hyderabad) as well as the Executive MBA program at the Broad School of Business, Michigan State University. Dr. Mishra has received many accolades for his teaching, including a Lilly Faculty Fellowship, the MSU Teacher Scholar Award, the College of Education’s Teaching Excellence Award and the AT&T-MSU award for Instructional Technology. He is also an accomplished visual artist and poet. His work has been featured in international design and puzzle magazines and websites.
