ANNCR: “WCVE Public Radio looks at the life of business and the business of life in ‘Talking Business with Michael Guld.’”

SFX: Bells and crowd noise - opening of session on Wall Street

GULD: Here’s a headline for you: It’s tough out there in the business world… big companies and small alike… across most all industries… in most all parts of the country and globally, and since business affects every thing and every one, it makes no difference whether you’re Blue Collar or White Collar, it’s likely you, too, have been affected in some unexpected way. In last year’s election, Barack Obama ran a successful campaign on a platform of hope.

OBAMA: “What you’re starting to see is, umm, glimmers of hope.”

GULD: It’s going to take much more than hoping, wanting, waiting, wishing or even praying for things to change.

OBAMA: “Right now we’re still seeing a lot of job losses… a lot of hardship…”

GULD: There’s an old saying that “good things happen to those who wait.” Here’s my survival message to you: Don’t wait.

MUSIC: T. Rex “Get It On.”

In business today and in life in general good things happen to those who make good things happen. You have to take control and you have to take action. One hundred fifty years ago Charles Darwin wrote in his book On the Origin of Species that it’s not the strongest that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change. Over the life of the planet the size of an entity has been no guarantee of survival. Consider the dinosaur. So the particular adaptation that got you here today, in life or in business, may not get you where you need to be tomorrow in order to survive. The world is constantly changing. Take the actions necessary today to ensure you’ll be around tomorrow. Talking business…I’m Michael Guld.
