Hi, I'm Zola Vanessa with
more science news you can use.

Did you know that NASA's
Mars Odyssey Spacecraft
found lots of water ice on Mars?

How much water did they find?

(Zola)
Scientists believe
there is enough water
to fill Lake Michigan twice.

(Grant)
Why is finding water important?

(Zola)
All life needs water.

If there is frozen water
on Mars,
this suggests life may have
lived there before.

No kidding!

(Zola)
Water is important
because people
who travel to Mars
will not have to take
extra water, oxygen, or fuel
for the trip back to Earth.

I can understand how to get
water to drink, but oxygen?

(Zola)
Water is made from hydrogen
and oxygen.

If you separate hydrogen
and oxygen using chemistry,
you can breathe the oxygen
and combine the two
with other elements on Mars
to propel you home.

To find out more about water
on Mars, check out our website.

Until next time,
I'm Zola Vanessa with
cool science news you can use.
