Hello, and welcome to the ABC’s of Agriculture! We’re here today to talk about the letter C, for cabbage!

Did you know there is historical evidence that cabbage has been in cultivation for more than four thousand years?

Cabbage was brought to North America in the 1600's and the first record of planting cabbages was in 1699.

In Russia, cabbage is a national food. Russians eat about seven times as much cabbage as the average North American.

In Virginia….cabbage is grown primarily in the mountain and valley region of the state… and according to the most recent statistics… cabbage farmers made 3.2 (M) Million dollars for their crop …. And Virginia is the 11 largest cabbage producing state in the nation.

Cabbage is good for you as it is an excellent source of vitamin C and fiber and a serving of cabbage is only 25 calories with zero fat! So that makes this Virginia produce a heart healthy choice!
